Decision 2008: Can Huckabee win?

One of the quickly moving candidates in polls, Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has become the most seen likely darkhorse candidate. It is in my opinion Huckabee has a real shot at the Republican Nomination and the White House after Ames. His strength began a month ago when he started leading the other candidates in the 2nd tier in every poll. He started to tie Sen. McCain in polls and we declared him as the leader in deabtes among the 2nd tier. Then he amazed us all at Ames by spending only $90,000 and coming in 2nd. His message got out and he pulled an upset over his main rival Sen. Brownback. Expect polls to start swinging his way with his message you dont need all the money in the world to be president. He seems to be more down to Earth and connects more with voters like when he playe din his band at the straw polls. He connects far more with voters than the top tier. Voters like his appearence and thats what can get him elected. He can get the religous vote which seems not to be supporting the top tier. He is fighting for the social conservative vote and with his win over main rival Sam Brownback he could win theor vote as well. He has said he will surprise many in Iowa and NH. Gingrich says he is an "interesting darkhorse". He is the most likely darkhorse among the GOP. With a 3rd place finish in Iowa he could go far in NH, SC and Super Tuesday. I will conclude with keep your eyes on Huckabee he may surprise you. (Note: This isn't an endorsement)

Cort In Iowa

Republican presidential candidate Hugh Cort has had a good campaign trip to Iowa recently, according the most recent email sent out by his campaign.

"We gave a terrific speech to the Iowa Christian Alliance, praise God! One of the Iowa Christians said, 'Dr. Cort, I never heard anyone explain these issues and their solutions so well!' Our photographer, Allison, told me 'Dr. Cort, you really rocked!' (You know that made my day!)" Cort says in his message.

Cort, along with Dr. Paul Williams, will also be giving a counter-terrorism conference this Friday at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames, Iowa.

Another Thompson Considering Run

There is another Thompson considering a run for the White House in 2008. No, not Fred Thompson but Ed Thompson.

Ed Thompson is the former mayor of Tomah, Wisconsin, and was the Libertarian candidate for Wisconsin governor in 2002, in which he received 11% of the vote. He is also the brother of Republican presidential candidate Tommy Thompson.

An e-mail sent out by supporters of Thompson's previous campaign said:

Thompson discussed his potential run today on the Dynamic Duo radio show, http://gcnlive.com/. If neither his brother Tommy Thompson nor fellow truth-seeker Ron Paul get the Republican nomination, Thompson said, "somebody will have to do it."

Gilbert Would Oppose Ron Paul As GOP Candidate

In the Daniel Myers Live Republican debate on Tuesday night the question was asked "Would you support anti-war Ron Paul if he wins your party's nomination?"

The first to answer the question was Daniel Gilbert. Gilbert responded with a simple "no." The other two candidates in the debate, John Cox and Richard Smith, said that they would support him even though they disagree with his foreign policy. Smith went on to say that he "would hope that he [Paul] would wake up to the real dangers in the war."

McKinney: Statesman for President

Ray McKinney is another long-shot Republican running for President. McKinney, who was originally running for the Republican Vice Presidential nomination before seeking the top spot on the ticket, is not running as a Politician but as a Statesmen.

"No longer will I sit back and not participate, no longer will I let my country be run by those I have no confidence in. America demands and we deserve real candidates, not just candidates presented by the media," McKinney declares on his website.
